The Queromarca had always been known for the production of sugar cane, potatoes and livestock, until a settler brought the first coffee seeds about 20 years ago. This started production of coffee in the region and it has been successful due to its unique microclimate; tropical jungle, abundant biodiversity and fertile soils. This coffee grows at 1650 - 1850 metres above sea level.
