Twongerekawa-Coko Cooperative
In 2009, 11 female coffee farmers decided to transform 'traditional coffee' into something more. The farmers, who were used to selling their garden grown coffee by the side of the road to passing buyers, invested in their own land to create their own coffee cooperative. With 384 members now part of the cooperative, 75% of members are women, they are now getting world recognition for the quality of their produce.
