All about the coffee
This moorish hand-picked coffee comes from the Finca Rabanales farm on the out skirts of the Guatemala City, where they have their own washing and dry mill. Smooth caramel, chocolate tastes and soft fruits.
The Fraijanes region is distinguished by high rainfall, lofty altitudes and shifting humidity. Guatemala has three active volcanoes, the nearest is Pacaya and is active, nourishing the soil with minerals and occasional ash deposits. The sun is plentiful in the dry season, which helps lift the morning fog and dew.
Grown on volcanic rich soil at an altitude of 1400-1800m, Finca Rabanales is a family-run farm on the outskirts of Guatemala City. Rabanales started growing coffee in 1984 and now supports 20 workers. With the help of Marta from local exporter Coffee Bird, Rabanales has focused on the speciality sector since 2014. We source directly from Coffee Bird to ensure best cherry prices for the farmer.
Don Gregorio Zamora founded Finca Rabanales and is now run by his great great grandchildren Rafael and Maria Elena - the farm has been in the family for five generations. Rafael manages the technical field details, whilst Maria Elena supports the cupping operations.
