All about the coffee
The women of the Café Femenino Bolivia Program have improved their livelihoods, future prospects and the health of their families through speciality coffee. In 2009, they separated their coffee production from the men’s and Cafe Femenino was born. The Union Pro-Agro cooperative is spread out around the Caranavi valley, in the state of La Paz, Bolivia. Formed in 1997, and today boasting over 300 members from 10 rural communities. Within the co-op 42 women farmers, wives and widows, control the production of this Café Femenino coffee. In Bolivia women were very rarely considered landowners, but now they have legal ownership of 88 hectares of prime coffee terroir.
